Snoring can be one of the greatest obstacles to you (or your partner) getting enough sleep. In some cases, it may even be a symptom of sleep apnea or other conditions. At TruGlo Modern Dental in Beverly Hills, we offer patients reliable options for snoring treatment.
What Is Sleep Apnea?
Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is one of the most common causes of snoring. OSA involves the airway tissues obstructing your breathing, which can lead to uneven airflow and vibrations in the tissues (i.e., snoring). Many patients are surprised to learn that dentists can help with some of the symptoms related to sleep apnea.
Types of Snoring Treatment
- Snore Guard: This appliance is worn while you sleep and opens the airway. It can take some getting used to, but snore guards demonstrate high efficacy in reducing or eliminating snoring. Each snore guard is custom made to provide maximum comfort and benefits.
- Laser Snoring Treatment: We also offer a unique modern solution for sleep apnea. Laser snoring treatment involves direct application of laser energy to the tissues that cause snoring. The laser tightens these tissues, which helps keep the airways open.

Snoring Treatment FAQs
What is the process like?
- Consultation: First, we meet with patients to evaluate their case. We look at the causes of snoring and provide overviews of your options. If you choose laser sleep apnea treatment, we can refer you to our other location, where we perform this specialized procedure.
- Receiving Your Snore Guard: Getting a snore guard involves two steps. First, we take an impression of your teeth and mouth to send to the technicians. They will manufacture a custom-made snore guard that will fit perfectly. It can take a few days for your snore guard to be complete, after which you can test it and make sure it fits.
- Daily Snore Guard Use: From there, it is all about building the habit of wearing your snore guard. Place it in your mouth every night before bed, and you will soon start seeing dramatic improvements.
Which snoring treatment option is right for me?
Both snore guards and laser treatments provide satisfying improvements in snoring. The right option for you can depend on your needs, preferences, and budget. Dr. Rhonda Kalasho meets with each patient for a comprehensive consultation, including an assessment of your snoring causes. She can walk you through the advantages and limitations of each option to help you make an informed, confident decision.
How long does a snore guard last?
Snore guards do wear down over time. Most patients can use a single appliance for 6 months to 2 years. Patients who have bruxism (teeth grinding) may wear down their device more quickly. If you have had your snore guard for 2 years, we usually recommend replacing it. The less wear a snore guard has, the better it will serve its function.
Is a snore guard uncomfortable?
A custom-fit snore guard should not feel uncomfortable. However, patients may need a brief adjustment period for the first few weeks. During this time, the snore guard might feel awkward, but it should not cause pain. That would point to an improper fit. We work with premium dental technicians who make high-quality snore guards that match each customer’s specifications.
Does insurance cover a snore guard?
Insurance providers might cover a snore guard for patients with obstructive sleep apnea. If the snore guard is for other causes of snoring, insurance might not cover it. In either case, we recommend reaching out to your provider to learn about the details of your plan and what percentage of costs you will need to cover.
We also offer patients access to unique benefits through our TruGlo Membership plans. These plans can give you discounts on a range of treatments, including those that deal with snoring or sleep apnea symptoms.
